The Medical and Aesthetic Training Academy (MATA) has partnered with Glasgow-based company HC Skills International to deliver the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education in October and November.
The two day course, which will be held at Weetwood Hall in Leeds from October 31 to November 1, will be delivered through face-to-face teaching by experienced tutors and educators.
It aims to enable learners to understand and apply the principles of teaching and learning, create a lesson plan, teach clinical skills, give effective feedback, and design and deliver engaging talks, lectures and presentations.
Learners will complete a written examination and must pass observed assessments in microteaching, facilitating discussion, giving feedback and skills teaching.
Mr Faz Zavahir, director of MATA and aesthetic clinic Juvea Aesthetics, said, "I am delighted that MATA are able to deliver this highly regarded and well-established postgraduate qualification. At a time when the work of the Joint Council of Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) is gathering momentum, it is vital that not only must cosmetic practitioners demonstrate competence and proficiency, the clinical trainers and educators responsible for teaching them should also have the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver structured, measured and effective learning strategies."
Mr Zavahir added, "This qualification will develop and recognise the many talented people working in this specialised sector. It is ideal for anyone with an educational or training role in relation to healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, dental practitioners, clinicians and cosmetic and aesthetic practitioners.”
The qualification is accredited by UK awarding body EduQual, and is said to be inline with guidance referenced by the GMC via the Framework for the Professional Development of PG Medical Supervisors publication. More dates are expected to be released in due course.
