Practitioners were invited to attend an exclusive early morning breakfast workshop at the Royal Society of Medicine in London on Friday February 23 to learn about the new Calecim Professional products.
Founding director of CellResearch Corporation Group of Companies, which produces and manufacturers Calecim Professional, consultant plastic surgeon Mr Ivor Lim, welcomed guests. He then introduced dermatologist Dr Mitchell Goldman, who led a presentation on the new products. Dr Goldman explained that Calecim contains ethically sourced, patented cord-lining stem cell technology that has been used both within cosmeceutical skincare and in Food and Drug Administration clinical trials for wound healing.
He explained that it comprises a mix of two types of potent stem cell strains – epithelial and mesenchymal – which are ethically and harmlessly harvested from the umbilical cord lining of New Zealand deer.
According to Dr Goldman, these cord lining stem cells secrete a mix of proteins, growth factors and cytokines, which aim to direct skin cells to behave in a youthful manner.
The company claims the products can be used adjunct to in-clinic procedures as well as an ongoing homecare regimen, aiming to accelerate skin healing, decrease post-procedure erythema and enhance skin rejuvenation with increased elasticity, decreased epidermal wrinkling and normalisation of epidermal pigmentation.
Dr Goldman said, “Calecim truly delivers an exciting step-change in aesthetic clinical practice; offering the medical wound-healing benefits of stem cell proteins within a cosmeceutical skin rejuvenation range.”
After the event, Mr Lim, said, “I thought it was a wonderful morning and we had a great turn-out. It was great to have Richard Goldman speak, he is well-respected and has written many books in the field; I think it went very well. The participants this morning came out interested to find out about how stem cell growth factors work and how they might be able to improve skin aesthetics."
The official UK aesthetic industry launch of Calecim Professional will be taking place at the Aesthetics Conference and Exhibition (ACE) in London on April 27 and 28. There will also be a Masterclass session led by board-certified dermatologist Dr Doris Day on this subject, which will take place at 10am on April 28.
