Collaboration to offer complimentary surgery to burns victims

Hair transplant specialists Farjo Hair Institute have joined forces with The Katie Piper Foundation to offer complimentary hair transplant treatments to burns sufferers.

The new partnership aims to help survivors overcome the physical and psychological scars left by burns through hair restoration surgery.

“The loss of hair through burns and traumatic scarring can have a significant impact on an individual’s confidence and wellbeing and serve as a constant reminder of their trauma,” said Katie Piper Foundation charity services manager Ezinna Rospigliosi. “An important part of their psychological recovery is linked to their physical appearance, and we are pleased to be able to offer The Farjo Hair Institute’s services to our beneficiaries who require hair restoration.”

With the free surgery, patients will be able to have their hairlines, facial hair, eyebrows or eyelashes restored with the aim of building their confidence.

Farjo consultant Dr Greg Williams, a former burns surgeon, concluded, “People who have suffered burns or scarring often find that it affects their self-esteem and a core element of their recovery is addressing the psychological damage. This is intrinsically linked to personal perception, so surgeries or procedures that can help them look as much like they did before are therefore a vital part of the recovery process.”
