Wigmore Medical has begun distributing ZO Skin Health Controlled Depth Peel in the UK, following its successful launch in October.
The trichloroacetic acid (TCA) chemical peel is designed to rejuvenate and correct skin concerns such as pigmentation, wrinkles, acne scarring and large pores.
According to pharmacist prescriber Rukhsana Khan and Dr Rita Poddar, who underwent training for the ZO Skin Health Controlled Depth Peel with Dr Zein Obagi in the US and Dr Samuel Van Eeden in the UK, the product allows practitioners to customise the strength of the TCA to treat specific skin concerns.
They claim that the ZO Skin Health Controlled Depth Peel offers a safe method of achieving skin restoration, creating younger-looking skin that is tighter and firmer.
Dr Poddar and Khan explain that a fixed concentration and volume of the TCA is blended with a blue-base dye to help identify the depth of penetration, before it is applied to a predetermined area of the patient’s skin using a specially-designed applicator. The interaction of the TCA with the protein in the skin causes specific reactions that can be observed by the practitioner during application of the solution. The practitioner can then interpret these signs to identify and manage the appropriate depth of penetration of the TCA, suited to each individual patient’s needs.
In addition, they note that the blue-base dye that is used contains anti-inflammatories, antihistamines and antioxidants to enhance the effects of the TCA solution.
Dr Van Eeden said, “The ZO Skin Health Controlled Depth Peel is a non-invasive facelift treatment that improves the quality, firmness and tightness, as well as the texture, tone and colour of the skin using evidence-based antiageing action.”
The ZO Skin Health Controlled Depth Peel can be used alone or in combination with other aesthetic treatments.
