The Aesthetics Pharmacy Group UK (APGUK) support and networking group for aesthetic pharmacists has formed.
Chair Sophie Riddell and founding board members Amar Suchde and Gillian Murray explain that the group was first informally established on social media in 2014, and has since grown to more than 500 members, of whom all will be qualified prescribers by 2026.
They share that the group’s objectives are to provide opportunities for training and mentorship, offer leadership and support in navigating the regulatory landscape, advocate for the recognition and advancement of pharmacists in aesthetics, and ensure aesthetic pharmacists have a voice in regulation and policy-making.
Murray commented, “APGUK is committed to supporting pharmacists as they navigate the complexities of medicines, law and device regulation in medical aesthetics. By fostering collaboration with other professional organisations, we aim to contribute to ensuring that the highest standards of care are maintained across the field. Together, we will work to elevate the role of prescribing pharmacists in medical aesthetics, ensuring they are recognised as essential contributors to the safety, efficacy and advancement of aesthetic treatments.”
