Dr Patrick Treacy releases new book

Written by...

Aesthetic practitioner Dr Patrick Treacy has published a new book called The Evolution of Aesthetic Medicine.

In the book, Dr Treacy provides a historical narrative of how botulinum toxin, dermal fillers and laser technologies made their way into the field of aesthetic medicine, detailing the evolution of these procedures.

Dr Treacy said, “The term aesthetic medicine now encompasses a more generalised term covering procedures that tend to focus on altering cosmetic appearance. These include conditions such as skin laxity, wrinkles, excess fat, cellulite and broken vessels. It is only in the early part of the 20th century that some of these cosmetic procedures gradually were included in the medical discipline and differences of opinion date back 500 years.”
