The British College of Aesthetic Medicine (BCAM) has introduced former president elect, aesthetic practitioner and Aesthetics Clinical Advisory Board member Dr Sophie Shotter as its new president.
This leadership change follows the departure of Dr Catherine Fairris, aesthetic practitioner and outgoing president of BCAM, whose tenure was marked by a significant strengthening of BCAM’s position within the medical aesthetics sector. The organisation expressed its gratitude for Dr Fairris’ contributions.
The organisation further noted that Dr Shotter brings extensive clinical experience, a background in education and a commitment to advancing standards of practice in medical aesthetics.
Discussing her new role with Aesthetics, Dr Shotter commented, “I am delighted to take on the role of President of BCAM. I look forward to building on the hard work and achievements of Dr Fairris and the board over the past few years. Over the coming months, I aim to continue conversations with colleagues and stakeholders to shape BCAM’s future direction. I also look forward to working closely with the central operations team and trustees to advance BCAM’s objectives, progress toward regulation and continually improve patient safety.”
BCAM’s board of trustees also commented, “Dr Fairris has made an incredible contribution to BCAM during her tenure, shaping the college’s direction and ensuring that patient safety and regulatory excellence remain at the heart of our work. We are delighted to welcome Dr Shotter as our new president. Her energy, vision and experience will guide BCAM into the future, and we look forward to the opportunities her leadership will bring.”
