Skin Life Analytics has introduced its skin health testing service in the UK.
The company explains that its tests use mitochondrial damage as a biomarker of skin ageing, allowing practitioners to better tailor treatment plans according to patients’ needs.
In addition, the company has launched a programme of CPD-approved webinars to further inform practitioners on mitochondrial damage in the skin.
Professor Mark Birch-Machin, founder and chief scientific officer, said “Skin Life Analytics’ laboratory can measure damage with a few swipes of the skin. Historically, we needed to take invasive biopsies to measure mitochondrial damage, which was neither practical nor patient friendly, but Skin Life Analytics has developed a PCR test that uses a non-invasive skin swab and allows for the health of the mitochondria to be tracked.”
