The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) has introduced a scheme to build a relationship between young plastic surgeons and experienced senior colleagues.
Under the scheme, the development of a series of mentorships aimed at post-FRCS (Plast) trainees approaching the end of their training will be supported. This provides structure and guidance for mentors, acting as ‘Host Centres’ and their mentees.
The benefits of the scheme include having a highly qualified assistant, a colleague to participate in aesthetic practice audit and research, enhancing surgical skills and CPD through teaching and discussion and mentee involvement in the patient journey. There will also be an opportunity for mentees to present their work at the BAAPS Scientific Conference to a national and international audience and certification.
