Consultant dermatologist and nutritionist Dr Thivi Maruthappu has released a new book highlighting the symbiotic relationship between nutrition and skin health.
Skin Food: Your 4-Step Solution to Healthy, Happy Skin explores how the gut impacts the skin, focusing on advice for tackling acne, rosacea, psoriasis and ageing through good nutrition. She also explores how skincare and in-clinic treatments can help.
According to Dr Maruthappu, the book contains 45 nutrient-rich recipes to aid the skin, such as BeautyFood Granola and Spiced Chickpea Salad.
She said, “I am so excited to share the publication of my new book! Patients so often ask what to eat for their skin and whether to take supplements. Whether they are looking to achieve healthy skin or tackle common concerns like acne and rosacea, Skin Food helps you answer all those tricky questions.”
She continued, “With individual chapters addressing nutrition for specific skin concerns like acne, how to optimise your diet for skin health, the role of the gut-skin connection, the impact of mindfulness in skin health and of course, how to put a great skincare routine together and medical/in-office treatment options – think of it like your own personal dermatologist!”
The book will be available online and in Waterstones from June 22.
