On September 30, the British College of Aesthetic Medicine hosted the annual BCAM Conference 2023 at Church House, Westminster.
At the venue, a stone’s throw from Westminster Abbey, BCAM hosted a full day of clinical and business content for more than 250 delegates.
Kicking off the day was a content stream on face and body treatments, focusing on more ground-breaking options. Some sessions included introducing AviClear with Dr Priya Verma and Sarah Gaughan; polynucleotides and platelet-rich plasma as an alternative to hyaluronic acid with Dr Munir Somji; and topical adjunctive therapies to reduce risk with Dr Dev Patel.
The clinic management stream offered business advice, including setting up a skincare brand with Dr Victoria Manning and Gary Conroy; digital building blocks for scaling your aesthetic business with Rick O’Neill; and managing your reputation with Dr Sophie Shotter.
After a networking lunch break, safety became the focus with a complications stream. Some topics included dermal filler blindness with Dr Patrick Treacy; ultrasound for precise filler placement with Dr Steve Harris; and artificial intelligence as a method for visualising arterial structures during procedures with Professor Benoit Hendrickx.
Rounding off the day was the wellness stream, which discussed the role of NAD+ in menopausal ageing with Nichola Conlon; and ageing as a disease with Dr Steven Land.
The day finished with a networking drinks reception to continue building connections.
Dr Sophie Shotter, BCAM board trustee and event director, commented, “We are delighted with the success of this year’s BCAM Conference. We aimed to provide a TED-X style of educational content, with shorter, sharper presentations delivering high impact education. Our speakers did a fantastic job, and the initial feedback has been extremely positive. Thank you to the delegates for being so engaged and asking such great questions of the expert panels. We are over the moon with how it has gone and are excited to use this as a building block for next year’s conference!”
The event will return on September 21, 2024.
