Pharmaceutical company Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie Company, has held its MD Codes Live European Meeting with Dr Mauricio de Maio at the Hilton Metropole in London.
The two-day event on June 5 and 6 allowed 600 attendees to watch a series of live injection demonstration by internationally renowned aesthetic practitioner Dr de Maio, with the aim of increasing safety of medical aesthetic procedures, says the company.
The company notes that the MD Codes are designed to educate and inform injectors by introducing specific terminology and patterns for facial injections. This way injectors are able to systemise treatment plans, understand the complexity of the human face and optimise patient outcomes, according to the company.
This event placed great emphasis on ageing, with Dr de Maio saying, “Ageing is a sequence of events. We don’t go to bed looking young and wake up looking old the next day. We are living longer lives. Does this mean we have to accept that looking aged is inevitable? Traditionally, one is considered ‘senior’ or ‘elderly’ when reaching 65 years old. Considering that the oldest living person today is 118, in reality could we not consider 65 years ‘old’ to be ‘middle-aged’? The possibilities of social and professional opportunity have expanded, and so has our role.”
The event was also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Allergan Medical Institute (AMI), an evidence-based medical education platform and community, educating practitioners on medical aesthetic excellence. More than 80,000 practitioners are currently registered across 45 countries, including 10,000 in the UK and Ireland, according to the company.
Djamshid Ghavami, general manager at Allergan Aesthetics UK and Ireland, commented, “Medical aesthetics is constantly evolving, with almost endless treatment possibilities; it is essential that we understand how to aim to achieve the best results for our patients. At Allergan Aesthetics, we are passionate about advancing medical education and dedicated to supporting our customers to pursue the highest levels of clinical excellence and patient experience with an aim to deliver the best patient outcome. The execution of the MD Codes Live European Tour in London is a testament to this ambition.”
