New PDT formulation launches

Written by...

Private label cosmeceutical supplier 5 Squirrels has partnered with Alamed Technologies UK Limited to launch a new photodynamic therapy (PDT) treatment to the UK and Irish aesthetic market.

The new product is named GlycoAla and according to the companies, is the world’s only cosmetic photodynamic gel that includes hyaluronic acid and utilises an advanced glycosphere nanoparticle delivery system.

The companies claim that the glycosphere nanoparticle encapsulation of GlycoAla’s photodynamic ingredient enables enhanced penetration into the skin to provide safe improvement of skin tone, sun damage, ageing, hydration and moisture retention.

Gary Conroy, founding director at 5 Squirrels Ltd, said, “This really is a game changing product. I have been working in PDT for the past decade and have often been frustrated that the benefits of this technology have never been widely adopted due to the complicated legacy protocols. GlycoAla changes all of that, it is a great fit with 5 Squirrels’ Your Signature Range to finally deliver truly remarkable outcomes, I am really excited about this partnership.”

According to Conroy, the partnership with Alamed Technologies UK Limited will also allow healthcare professionals working in medical aesthetics to gain competence in PDT through training provided by aesthetic practitioner Dr Robin Stones and nurses prescriber Jan Birch, along with the commercial and business support of 5 Squirrels.

Dr Robins Stones said, “We are delighted to be working with 5 Squirrels to see how healthcare professionals can maximise the benefits of their existing phototherapy devices with this new exciting and novel technology to improve patient outcomes.”
