Research by aesthetic manufacturer Teoxane highlights growing concern around facial fat loss.
Conducted by independent European data collector Norstat on behalf of Teoxane, the research surveyed 2,500 UK participants. A key theme that emerged is a heightened concern around facial fat loss, with 65% of women expressing worry about this issue in the future, the company shares. Of those who have experienced facial fat loss from weight loss, 84% are 18-24-year-olds, whilst 53% are 35-44-year-olds, Teoxane explains.
In addition, 42% of people in the UK say they have addressed facial fat loss with dermal filler, with the leading age demographic 35-55-year-olds (51%), followed by 18-34-year-olds (38%), according to Teoxane.
Among those who have lost weight rapidly, 60% felt they had experienced noticeable facial fat loss as a result of GLP-1. The most common visible changes were loss of temple volume (31%) and noticing a more prominent bone structure (37%), claims the aesthetic manufacture.
Teoxane key opinion leader and aesthetic practitioner Dr Raul Cetto, commented, “It’s now one of the most frequent topics I encounter in clinic, and the data backs that up. In the UK alone, an estimated 1.6 million adults used GLP-1 weight loss medications between early 2024 and early 2025 – and around 3.3 million more have said they’d like to try them in 2026. But this isn’t only a weight loss medication story. Patients across the board are becoming far more informed about natural facial ageing too. They’re no longer simply asking about lines and wrinkles – they’re asking why their face looks ‘tired’ or ‘deflated’, and they want to understand why. That shift in awareness represents a real opportunity for us as practitioners to have better, more honest conversations and deliver more meaningful outcomes.”
