Care Quality Commission registration service, Inspire to Outstand is hosting a mental health awareness workshop for aesthetic practitioners on January 26 at The Pinnacle Rooms in Chester.
Mental health senior lecturer from the University of Manchester Marcus Percy will explain to delegates what mental health, body dysmorphia, the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act mean in aesthetic medicine, supported by a variety of case studies.
Director of Inspire to Outstand Tracey Jones said, “The Mental Capacity Act helps to safeguard the human rights of people aged 16 and over who lack mental capacity to make decisions. This is an important area for those working in aesthetic medicine and one which the healthcare regulator will expect to see both governance, guidance and practitioner education. Teams need to be able to identify situations where the Mental Capacity Act may be relevant and know what steps to take to maximise and assess a person’s capacity especially when making decisions to embark on cosmetic treatments.”
