Pharmaceutical company IBSA Derma has launched a new initiative called ‘Ethics in Aesthetic Medicine’.
According to the company, the initiative aims to reflect on the company’s culture of ethics and responsible practices within the industry. The cornerstone of the initiative is the release of the consensus paper, The Aesthetic Medicine: International Dialogue on the Relationship between Medicine, Beauty and Ethics.
The paper looks into the ethical aspects of aesthetic medicine for a clearer definition of the opportunities and limits of intervention. The document invited medical professionals to an ethical reflection on clinical practice, explains IBSA Derma.
The paper was developed by the company’s advisory board including aesthetic practitioner Dr Beatriz Molina, dermatologist Dr Hugues Cartier and plastic surgeons Dr Antonello Tateo, Dr Editta Buttura da Prato and Dr Andrea Margara.
Head of the Dermo-Aesthetic department at IBSA
Derma Tania Pirazzini said, “The new goal that IBSA set itself with this
ambitious project is to collaborate more closely with practitioners and
scientific societies, to develop and raise awareness of the ethics of aesthetic
medicine and educate about its mindful and respectful use.”
