A petition calling for the removal of 20% tax on sunscreen products has been handed to the government to make SPF more accessible.
The petition, created by NHS general practitioner Dr Raj Arora joined campaigner Jessica Webster, is designed to support the wider efforts to prevent skin cancers.
It comes as a UV Safety Inquiry took place in Parliament last May, which will examine the taxation of sunscreen as part of the wider prevention of skin cancer.
Taking to social media, Dr Arora commented, “Sunscreen isn’t a luxury. It isn’t simply cosmetic. It’s a skin cancer prevention tool, yet families are still paying VAT on SPF products, including those made for babies and children.”
