The term periorbital veins describes veins located around the eye area, in particular those of the upper eyelids and/or visible under the eyes.1 These veins may become prominent over time due to several factors such as ageing, genetics, sun exposure and lifestyle choices.1,2
The skin around the eyes is thin and delicate, making these veins more apparent, frequently leading to a blue or purple discolouration of the area that many may find unsightly. Whilst prominent periorbital veins are a purely cosmetic issue, they can contribute to a tired or aged appearance, meaningfully affecting confidence and therefore quality of life.3
