Health and beauty retailer Superdrug has launched its Back Street To High Street safety campaign with independent accreditation body Save Face as chosen charity partner.
According to the company, the initiative is calling for greater safety and accountability in the UK non-surgical aesthetics field and positioning face-to-face consultations as essential before treatment. The campaign follows Superdrug previously launching aesthetic clinics, with all clinicians accredited by the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) and Save Face.
Patient-led research commissioned by Superdrug, involving 2,003 participants, found that 54% consider clear information on risks and expected results critical to safe, effective treatment, 53% want stronger regulation and licensing of clinics and practitioners and 51% believe practitioners should have appropriate medical training and qualifications.
Speaking with Aesthetics, Ashton Collins, director of Save Face, commented, “Our collaboration with Superdrug combines Save Face’s expertise in practitioner verification and patient protection with Superdrug’s reach and public trust. Through the Back Street to High Street campaign, we want to make credible safety information as visible and accessible as the marketing promoting these treatments.”
