The Gloucestershire Enhance Programme held the ‘Aesthetics – The Pros and Cons’ study day at Cheltenham General Hospital.

The event brought together multidisciplinary specialists to educate NHS healthcare professionals on contemporary medical aesthetics practice within the UK. The programme included speakers from plastic surgery, dermatology, hair restoration, psychology and regulatory sectors, with discussions focused on patient safety, complications management and governance.

Aesthetic practitioner Dr Alison Colville delivered keynote lectures on safety, stigma and the management of aesthetic complications presenting to secondary care, while Andrew Rankin, acting co-chair of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) examined the evolving regulatory landscape and the lasting implications of the Alice Webb case.

Dr Colville commented, “What a fantastic opportunity to represent the UK medical aesthetics field! I was really encouraged by the engagement and openness from NHS staff around medical aesthetics and patient safety after presenting throughout the day. As the field continues to grow, improving awareness, education and collaboration is vital to creating a safer environment for patients and supporting better regulation and standards across the sector. I’m proud to be a part of this movement.”
